As large institutions that are using hazardous materials, hospitals are working together through the Premier healthcare alliance to reduce and manage waste. In fact, we are the only organization to be recognized six years in a row for our leadership in this area by an award from Hospitals for a Healthy Environment (H2E). By working through their national alliance, hospitals are implementing programs to minimize and manage waste, recycle, eliminate or seek alternatives to harmful toxic chemicals, and conserve renewable resources.
The Premier healthcare alliance has been leading the nation in cataloguing and helping hospital experts easily identify products with substances such as PVC and DEHP as well as creating tools that will enable hospitals to measure their progress in becoming environmentally healthy.
